O’Bryon has a lovely, lyrical voice that is capable of belting, when necessary. We are pleased to point out that The Virginian-Pilot, via this column, “discovered” her a decade or more ago, back when we wrote a review that stands as one of our more unusual raves, for her Sister Sarah in “Guys and Dolls.” We discovered her as an ingénue and have watched her progress through “Shenandoah,” “1776” and many others. Indeed, one of the great joys of local theater is being able to watch performers grow through varied roles. But we never thought of her as Mame. Can she handle the brass, the sass and the bombast?
